Mortar (2022-2024)
Based on the photographs taken of various buildings around the cities of Salford and Manchester, this piece of work explores two worlds; the story of the fictitious man upstairs, and the autobiographical. Settled up upon some scaffolding, the man on the 9th floor lives and dies for his work. Once scribed in sand, this piece tries to understand the grief and pain of letting your childhood dreams die, to go and work in concrete buildings. This show is aimed at everyone, the everyday worker - you, me (and the man upstairs). This piece takes on the form of a live soundscape as the performer tells the story. This piece of writing was also inspired by John Hartford’s 1971 song 'In Tall Buildings'.

A performance lecture tackling the repercussions of regret, forming around your own solitude. The 15 minute show is centred on writing a letter back to someone you forgot. We take a journey through small snapshots and emotive stories of time whilst they try to remember and form events that may or may not have happened in the time they forgot to write back. We are thrown dilemmas during the performance to understand whether we are experiencing reality or lies. This piece is exploring themes of truth, loneliness, grief and change.

This show tackles the alienation of workers under capatalism, dream-like hallucinations, and how memory could affect your ability to tell the truth about the people you overhear on your way to work.
